Question would you like to hear the story of Jack Bates?
The Tale Of Jack Bates.
Each day outside the factory gate
Jack would arrive to stand and wait.
Each day the foreman big and burly
Would greet our Jack, ” by ‘eck you’re early.”
Once Jack came in at half past eight,
The foreman said, ” Ee Jack you’re late “.
Jack’s aunty Kate was hard of hearing,
She was religious and God fearing,
Her garden front was full of flowers,
‘Twas where she spent her happy hours.
We cheeked her when we passed her gate,
We used to call her deafy Kate.
Jack caught a ferry boat to France
To have a holiday, by chance
He met a farmer with some gites,
They were quite small but very neat.
Asking, ” What number is my chalet mate ?”
The farmer answered, “You’re in eight”.
Jack and his wife produced a son,
They both decided just the one
Would suit their needs, but here’s the rub,
When Jack went down the local pub
He suffered joshing from his mates,
” You’ll have to call him Master Bates”.
It needs more verses and a proper order in which to “tell” the tale of Jack Bates.
